Laura Loomer Losing Her Primary

Loomer lost against U.S. House incumbent Rep. Daniel Webster, who drew a rare primary challenge.

In a video that has garnered more than 800,000 views from the Twitter account of News 6′s Mike DeForest, Loomer spoke after Webster was announced the winner and told her supporters should would not concede.

“I’m not conceding because I’m a winner and the reality is our Republican party is broken to its core,” she said.

Webster, a six-term incumbent who served for three decades in the Florida legislature, narrowly edged out Loomer, a far-right activist and self-described "proud Islamophobe" banned from most social media and payment platforms for spreading election lies and attacks on Muslims.

For the last two years, Republicans across the country, led by former President Donald Trump, have boosted the lie that the 2020 election was stolen. The result has been an increasing number of candidates who simply refuse to accept they lost. Like Loomer, indicted Colorado county clerk Tina Peters refused to accept she lost her primary for secretary of state in June.
